Get creative with Doilies

Aloha Crafters and Minds Alike..

Sorry for the "short silence". I never thought that preparing for a new post in blog would be such a time consuming effort with a lot of preparation required (i.e. photoshoot, watermarking, posting, etc...).

I was browsing for party favor inspiration and came across this Happy Valentine's Heart Shape Doilies Candy. Wow...pretty cute and creative. I have used doilies mostly for scracpbooking..but never as candy party favors...

So, based on this inspiration, this is my Doilies Party Favor as intepreted by me. It can be used for weddings, party or giveaways... Total cost for each is less than RM1..

Have fun crafting..

Craft Room...where it all begins

Aloha Crafters & Minds Alike!

Every crafter needs their on sanctuary, a place full of inspirations, a place where beautiful things get created... One day, i will have "proper" craft room/studio...u will understand why i said "proper" once you see my current craft room...

Meantime, some inspirational craft rooms...

I love the wooden alphabets...all furniture from ikea...(mine too...but how come it doesn't look like this..?)

I love the wall color, very nice color to get our mind creative. Organized tools and art material with huge table to work on.

All items are neatly organized, easy to reach and to some extent, it looks like a whimsical wall decorations...

unfortunately...my craft room a LOT of ORGANIZATION need to be done...hehe

My current craft room...why it doesn't look nice, pretty and of course organized??
another corner in the living room turned sewing/beading/storage area...

 My so-called organized art supplies/tools
Dining table turned craft/sewing/beading/cutting table..

So...for now, all the crafts made in this blog are to done everywhere in the house but my current craft room...sigh..

Fabric Flowers - Kanzashi in Bloom

Hello Crafters & Minds Alike,

As i was browsing my etsy.com in search of new ideas/inspiration, i came across a very beautiful origami-liked flowers. Then, i got to know that this craft is knows as Kanzashi, a Japanese art of folding. But, technically Kanzashi is more correctly called Hana Tsumami Kanzashi.

With my growing eagerness to learn about craft, i have somewhat "forced" my outgoing department to buy me a book called Kanzashi in Bloom by Diane Gilleland as my farewell gift (hehe...)

So, here are my journey to master the Hana Tsumami Kanzashi. I am just lazy to type the instruction, but hopefully the photos are as good as step-by-step guide.

Enjoy!

Aloha Crafters & Minds alike...

Hi there, my name is Karen.

I have been enmeshed in my craft since i know how to use a scissor. I remember, my first craft was a little cotton envelope purse made from remnants of my mom's unwanted fabrics and a little beautiful button from my old dress.

I love crafting so much. When a big chunk of my day goes toward making a living, i like to wind down by just giving myself some 1 hr of craft time. Craft Time for me could be just reading my collections of craft books (my source of technique & ideas), browsing etsy.com (my source of inspirations) or simply dive straight to crafting.  This blog is dedicated to mom, Anny, i am who i am because of you. Thank you, mom.

A blog about a girl's journey to explore the crafters world. Have fun!

Amongst my sources of craft's techniques & ideas - have not read them all, but must always be at bay in time of need...
